The Meaning of "Off The Wall"

There are millions of people that probably could relate to Michael Jackson’s song, “Off the Wall”. We all want to leave that 9 to 5 upon the shelf. However, it’s not 9 to 5 for many of us anymore. We spend our lives working, going home, paying bills, and buying groceries, but we never really enjoy life. When we get from behind the wall of the work world, we are like kindergarteners. We are bursting with energy to get away from it. Guys and girls turn up the music in their cars racing from the parking lot to go home. Michael Jackson told us in his lyrics, “Let the madness in the music get to you. Life ain’t so bad at all if you live it off the wall.”

Michael Jackson also said that living crazy is the only way. Well, I wouldn’t live crazy high on drugs and alcohol, but living crazy just having fun is the best kind of living and fun. Some get crazy at the night clubs on the dance floor, some get crazy playing card games, and some get crazy at cook outs in family time. What ever the fun may be, we need to do it in a good and right way. We need to live and be happy. It’s okay to act crazy but sane with it.

The Bee Gees

Posted by Ovation TV

When it comes to the Bee Gees, I don't know anyone who didn't love them. I considered them as soul singers when I was growing up in the 70's. When I was a little girl, I use to say to my mother, "Mama, that lead singer looks like Jesus."

Run DMC and Aerosmith

In 1986, Run DMC and Aerosmith joined together to make a hip hop record. Mixing hip hop and music that is rock was something very new to me. Because of the beat, I liked the song from the very beginning. It was Aerosmith's Walk This Way along with Run DMC. I got a kick out of watching the video on MTV.  Both groups were trying to practice their music, and Run DMC kept throwing in their turn table scratch sounds as the rock group played the guitar. I thought the whole thing was awesome. It was a song put together that made both hip hop lovers and rock lovers both listen.

Doobie Brothers - Listen To The Music

For some reason, I loved hearing this song when I was growning up. I was shocked to learn that it was the Doobie Brothers.

Harry Belafonte_ Banana Boat

I love to hear Harry Belafonte sing the Banana Boat song. I remember him from the Muppet Show which was a show that was so funny. It made me laugh.

Michael Jackson_Off the Wall

Posted by jonus30

It would have been nice if Michael Jackson would have made a video of Off the Wall like he did Billie Jean. In Billie Jean, the sidewalk would light up under his shoes. With Off the Wall, he could have made a magic wall in the video with his reflection. Well, MJ left us with a live video of Off the Wall. I'm thankful that he left us with this video.

Kenny Loggins_This is it

 Posted by silasofa

There is just something about this song by Kenny Loggins. It has a catchy tune and chorus. Suddenly he sings, "This Is It!" Then he brings the exclamatory down to sing smooth and softer. I love the instrument sounds and the back up of Michael Mcdonnald.

Little Bit of the Lyrics:
There have been times in my life
I've been wondering why
Still somehow I believed
We'd always survive
Now I'm not so sure
You're waiting to hear
One good reason to try
But what more can I say
What's left to provide
You think that maybe it's over
Only if you want it to be
Are you gonna wait for your sign,
your miracle
Stand up and fight
This is it
Make no mistake where you are
This is it
Your back's to the corner
This is it
Don't be a fool anymore
This is it
The waiting is over

Brothers Johnson_Stomp

You may laugh at me, but I always thought that this song was made by the Jacksons. The guy that is singing lead sounds kind of like Jermaine Jackson. Back then, when this video was made, I had no idea that it was even made. I didn't know videos like this existed until there was MTV. This song was made about the year of 1981, and I'm thinking of 79. In 1981, I don't remember having cable TV. That's when MTV first started. I got cable TV in time enough to see Michael Jackson'"Billie Jean:."

The Lockers

I'm afraid that I don't remember "The Lockers". I don't remember dancing being this great in the 70's. The only one I know that danced like this was Rerun (Fred Berry) on the comedy, "What's Happening". He was a member of the Group, "The Lockers".

'Schlitz Malt Liquor' _Kool and the Gang_The Platters

I remember this commercial from 1981. I did not know who the Platters were back then, but I knew Kool and the Gang. It's neat how the Platters went back to the old style music which was tied together with Kool and the Gang's modern style. This is a commercial that I never forgot. Besides, who could forget that big old bull.
